Alternatives to violence at Pelican Bay

The Alternatives to Violence Project is a specific way in which to make a

difference in our very needy world. Right now, at prisons all over

California, opportunities for new AVP programs are beginning to show up.

One place where there is an opportunity is at Pelican Bay.

What Pelican Bay needs is eight to ten volunteers who have attended three

20-hour workshops and who commit to going inside to help facilitate three

more 20-hour workshops each year.

This big commitment does not have to be made at the start. The only

commitment that must be made is to attend one 20-hour workshop. After this

workshop, participants decide whether or not to attend the next.

Interested persons can attend workshops in prison. Or they can attend

workshops in a community location. Call George or leave a message at the

RPJC for the Humboldt Friends' meeting Peace and Social Concerns

committee.

Those who volunteer to facilitate AVP workshops at Pelican Bay will be

glad to have been given the opportunity.
